Would it be too difficult?
I don't think you can throw very far in the first place, maybe in V.A.T.S but other than that it's down right a pitiful throw.

Loose Cannon and Heave Ho! are probably your best perk/trait to pick for this, but other then that, I avoid throwing weapons in this game like the plague.

Even with both those perks, I don't think even Atom could save you.
