Xbox 360 wireless controller for PC question

Greetings all,

I've used a wired controller for my PC games for a while now. They all seem to work fairly well. Today I decided to upgrade and get a wireless controller. It's the official Microsoft xbox 360 controller for windows. It works fine but I noticed something. When I level up and have to pick where to put my points the letters are wrong.

For example to reset it says to hit "R" I think, to accept hit "E" instead of the proper Y and X for the controller. The controller works, hitting Y and X works. They're just labeled wrong in the level up menu.

I haven't noticed this before when I used the wired controller, perhaps it was always like that. But is there something that I can do to change this? Going into settings it lists everything correctly. B for pipboy A for activate and such. It's just whack in the menu. Of course I can live with this, just wondered if there was something I'm missing here.

R and E are the keyboard buttons I am required as a member of the PC Master Race to say you would be using were you using the superior keyboard/mouse control setup.

Honestly, I don't know why it would show you the keys to press when you are using a different (inferior) control scheme. If it works, it does. Did you make sure to reset which control setup you were using in between changing controllers? That might have an effect.

I am also required to say that, over the course of my history with wireless mice and wireless controllers on my brother's Xbox, wired controllers are roughly ten times as reliable.
