New character. Proper way to do it. (Question)

Hello everyone. I've been searching specifically for this question without results so far.

After 1.9 patch I'm starting a new character. I have a reserved save with a level 1 guy sitting in Hod and Gerdur's house in Riverwood just after fleeing Helgen. I don't want to change race, etc. just build a new one using the same character regarding race, looks.

I know that for most of the patch fixes to work it's better to start a new one. The question is: it is absolutely necessary to restart it from the very beginning (carriage to Helgen) or it'll do to just start from my level one guy just sitting there in Riverwood?

If anyone has some experience with this I'd appreciate the help.

Thanks in advance.

Me personally, I like to start from "Who are you?" in Helgen. I have a save at that very moment that allows me to choose any race and any look for my character. Why dont you just start a completely new save and do the same? Would give you the option of later games being able to choose different races and sixes.
