What are popular continental map mods?

Post » Mon Apr 05, 2010 11:29 am

I just want to figure out which one I can DL to replace the map on my game. I WOULD like a colored map, maybe one that has lots of green for forest areas.

By colored, do you mean "Satellite view" style, or tinted?

For the former, I'd say http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=14822 as it includes all the little roads. For the latter, it would be http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=2308 - I added the trails to a copy of that for my own use, but have never published it as a "mod." There's an SI one around like that as well, but I can't find it right now.

I like the http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=3002. And I combine it with http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=26389 which lets you choose your marker style, see discovered wayshrines, etc. on the map, add your own markers, and change the map icons with a click so you can keep track of whether you've already been in a dungeon or not. You can also choose to set it to have a blank map until you discover the places, hide player marker, hide quest marker on world/local map, have the map not open centered on you (more immersiveness) and all that jazz. It's also compatible with FCOM if you use that.

EDIT: Doh, note to self: Refresh before you post, stupid.

One last quick question...how do I center my icons on the right place? They are too far to the southwest of where they are supposed to be.

Sorry, not quite sure what you mean. I don't have that problem with the overhaul I use...I haven't used vanilla in a long time.

What I mean is the icons are located in the wrong areas of the map. It is as if they were placed by a blind person. I mean they are in the right order, but it is as if they got placed far southwest of where they should be.

I think I had that issue when I had a map in the wrong Menu folder. There are full scale, 80 percent and 50 percent versions, to match your screen resolution, and the icons are overlaid on those before placing them on your screen. I can't recall if a southwest drift means your map is too big or too small for the folder it's in.

None beats the modularity of http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=27791, it includes the locations added by nearly all major mods out there, and undoubtedly the most complete.

But yeah, you'll most likely need Photoshop for it...

I second this!

Only I would recommend this version though - http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=28432
It's basically yian's map, but it's the default vanilla size. I did not like how big Yian made the map.

I still can not figure out what is wrong. Or how to correct it. HELP!!!!

For a better description of the problem, everything is placed far to the southeast of where it should be. Ravenview Village and Mt. Colovia icons are situated inside the Imperial City.

So the problem wasn't you using the wrong size for your resolution?
