Who doesn't like a dose of radiation induced poetry every now and then. So lets enrich the wastelands and enjoy the apocalypse. Feel free to post any of your own apocalypse themed work as well as other interesting poems/short stories you've come across in your distant and weary travels. I just ask that you please credit the author if the work is not your own.
Here's one of my recent poems to start this off:
A Hero's Death by Devin Chinault
Here I kneel before my fate, after a life lived in hate. My executioner just barely a man, his hands shake with fear. I feel no pain, no fear, no regret. I know my time has come, nothing can change what I have done.
He chambers a round, so carefully prepared, so deliberately aimed.
My charges read aloud, the words echo through the cool damp air. The people around cheer.
I once stood among them, a voice so strong and clear. I fought valiantly in their name. They used to cheer when I remained.
Now the times have changed, now I must pay for what I have done.
I hear the order given, I watch the young mans finger near the trigger. I meet his distant gaze, I tell him its okay, for I must pay.
And then I was no more. Soon to be ash and dust once more.
