First I was having trouble with the shotgun, now whenever I pick up a silenced weapon I get stuck in place. I can turn but I can't move anywhere.

Any ideas on how to fix this?

Solved this myself, finally. Posting it here just in case anyone else runs into it.

I play without the HUD. Don't need the stupid HUD cluttering up the screen. But there are a few points early in the game where you are frozen in place until you follow instructions printed on your HUD--like how to add silencers to your weapons, for instance. The game wouldn't let me move until I took of the silencer on my pistol, to demonstrate that I knew how to do so. Couldn't see the instructions without the HUD but eventually figured it out anyway.
