When I try to run Fallout on my computer all I get is the launch screen (play, options, data files, etc.) and I haven't even got it to play once and I have no idea why. I've looked and most of what I have seen on the forum dosen't helpso please help.

Did a little looking in my files and I'm missing ordinal 42 in my dynamic link library.

The supposed file location is C:\Windows\SYSTEM32\xlive.dll

Does anyone out there know how to fix this?

Windows 8 and the GFWL client that came with Fallout 3 cause a conflict. Download the latest one http://www.xbox.com/en-US/LIVE/PC/DownloadClient, that should do it.

It's not a conflict with Windows 8. The GFWL install that comes with the GOTY is out of date for the game. You need to update it even if you run the game from XP.
