Post » Sun May 05, 2013 10:55 am

For some reason. on startup my avg reports that fallout 3 upon startup installs some cookies on my pc. I am a zealot when it comes to scanning my pc.. And very annoyed to see this happen. What can I do to prevent this.

It's an adtmt cookie btw.

It may help us to know more info like which version of FO3 you're seeing this behavior with or your system specs

You may be able to see the version if you check the properties of the "Fallout3.exe"

Did you get FO3 via Steam or is it the disc version?

BlackWeasel,

Is your Fallout from disc, steam or torrent?

It could have something to do with Games for Windows Live. Have you logged on to that system at any time?

Yes, it's a required program. You can't even install Fallout 3 without it. Once you get the game on your system you don't need to access Live at all, but the program still needs to be on your system. Chances are that's where the cookies are coming from. It's really nothing to worry about, cookies aren't necessarily bad things. It all depends on how they are being used. A lot of web sites couldn't function properly without them.

BlackWeasel,

You have the wrong version of Fallout 3. On opening page for this forum is a link to Updates. Follow the link and update your game. You will also need to go to http://www.xbox.com/en-IN/Live/PC

and download the updated client. If you intend to add any mods to your game, you absolutely need to be updated to version 1.7 and you need the xlive.dll. However, there are ways around GFWL available on the Fallout3 Nexus http://fallout3.nexusmods.com/
