Fallout 3 Weird Crash and Error

Post » Sat May 04, 2013 10:41 pm

Okay so I had my fallout 3 for quite awhile. Never had any problems aside from the basic stuttering and lag that everyone else has. One day, I got bored of playing fallout and decided to play some other games. Well, after about a month I decided, Hey I want to play fallout again. So I launch it, everything is running just fine. However, when I try to load my save file, whether I click continue or load the save it crashes. This is never happened before....ever. But the really weird thing is that I tried it again and noticed that my save file said my level was 310145637........an outrageously impossible number...does anyone know what the hell is going on here? Oh and I just took a screenshot and noticed that it also says my play time is capital wasteland haha that doesn't make sense.

You saved game is obviously corrupted. Either use another one or start a new game.

That response doesnt help you get it working. If your not concerned then okies.

But you should start by posting a dxdiag here , so that we know what your machine says is true , and not second hand information.

Yes we can help you try to get it working again if you want to. Have you got any backup saves? as that will be the easiest way out of it.

@TopHatCats

It sounds as though you overwrote your saves which is not recommended as it can cause savegame corruption

Sounds like you violated the rules of saves for Bethesda games (hell, for any games, for that matter).

1. Save early.

2. Save often.

3. Save in multiple slots.

Glitches happen all the time, and save files get corrupted all the time. By having multiple recent saves on your machine, you can avoid over 90 percent of all problems without losing hours and hours of playing time.

If you have only the one corrupted save and no backup of a known good save, you're probably going to have to start a new game. Consider it a hard lesson on the importance of proper save management.
