Here we go again

I think this topic was about another oil spill, I'm confused...
Betrayer, you want a third oil spill?

Man, I don't want to pay 400 dollars a gallon, thank you. :)

Oil spills are bad. We'll figure them out. I suggest nanotechnology to eat the oil.
We need more nanotechnology.
Or, we need to construct addition pylons...one or the other.

Good, I hope another oil spill happens too. Maybe then our race will realize how [censored] stupid we are and start to fix things instead of care only about money.

I would rather the oil run out sooner than expected so we have to use alternatives. Instead of leaving it to the last damn second.

Or we could actually make the Oil Rigs safer, more efficient.

It's possible. At this moment, however, is not possible to run the world's economy on any other fuel source than oil. Think about it.

The legs of the worlds economy are gigantic transport ships/planes and automobiles. Does the technology exist to power these massive machines on anything other than fossil fuels?

Sure, there is bio diesel fuel to power the semi trucks. But what about cargo planes and those huge cargo ships? Is there a bio diesel jet fuel? An electric engine capable of reasonably generating enough power to sustain flight for 15 hours?

We aren't to point in our development where we can safely remove oil entirely from our make up. Don't go condemn something completely, as you just did, without considering all possible angles first.

Or are you suggesting we completely dismantle the world's economical and logistical legs?

Don't get me wrong. I understand the hatred of oil completely. I feel it too. Hate just leads to the Dark Side......... don't hate.

That is true. However slow, gradual change will help.

But yeah, removing oil now is madness.
Plus, with the oil we have in Alaska, and the oil we have in Colorado, we won't really run out of oil for awhile.
Sure it won't be fun...

I should say that if we work on replacing the oil/coal/gas power plants with Nuclear Power plants, that shall alleviate the use of the fossil fuels.
Plus, we'd need like 3 oil power plants to produce the same power as a Nuclear power plant. Hey, Nuclear power plants require a constant source of water, right? So they do have to be built close to a river/source of water.
Then how does Los Angeles' power plant works? It's 50 miles away in the middle of the desert!

And if you used Breeder Reactors, no nuclear waste! Or at least, almost none.

"Anti-Life justifies my hate." -Darkseid :) Oh ,wait, you meant another Dark side.

@schnell olfy because then you can move on to other things, instead of wasting time trying to make everything better and failing.

But, supposedly, when you move onto other things, assuming continuation and betterment of life, isn't that not accepting the flaw finality of the problem?
"I don't mind so it doesn't matter"

And if you can ignore something, like mindless violence (which kills itself), and carry on.
Well now I don't know where I am going with this.

Excuse the double negative.

Ok for a short sentance, that may take some time for me to figuire out...
...
...Ok im kinda confused but are you saying by moving on, im basically trying to better life ?
I dont think thats what you mean, but if it is, no, im just ignoreing their issues because I cant change them and focus on maintaining hapiness in my life, something I can change.

I wont ignore someone having the crap kicked out of them, but im not going to try and solve all the problems in my community.

Yeah I have a knack for shoving words together in a not so graceful manner.

No, not really an if-then. I think I'm am just saying: the act of admitting a problem is not an act of admitting defeat.

[edit] so I pulled some weird reverse semantics on your argument. I think.

Admitting there is a problem is a good thing, but I give up because I cant change that problem, those about crime are already know to the ploice, and I cant stop people getting drunk, if something is out of my control there is no point in caring because what will be, will be.

So yeah if there is say a person being attacked, car being robbed or something I would help (I hope I would anyway but I cant say I would definately e.g if a guy has a knife then chances are I wouldnt get involved) but for somethings I cant effect/controll there is nothing I can do, so caring is pointless.

As much as I subscribe to the Que Sera, Sera theory. If eveyone only changed what directly affected their lives then the world would be heading in a much better direction.
