Poll: Would you join the Enclave?

Post » Sun May 05, 2013 7:18 am

Fair enough I suppose.

Also true.

Again, I'll say that Bethesda makes alot of statements about plans and motivations in the Fallout 3 Enclave, and all of them have contradictions. This strikes me as no different.

But again, I won't pretend what I'm saying doesn't have its own issues.

As long as they weren't trying to kill me, sure. The only reason they fail is because rare individuals like the protagonists come along and mess up their plans. Imagine what they could do if the protagonist HELPED.

Even if I wasn't so badass, I'd still join them. Pre-war level tech, food, medicine, and science? Count me the [censored] in, anything beats life alone in the wasteland.

Yes, of course! I've always been fascinated by Enclave. They don't promise progress, they already have progress. They can research and create new power armors!

I wonder how many Enclave soldiers are left... i'd say something like 1000 members max... also i wonder how they keep up their population, i mean everybody has to be related in someway by now since its 200 years, especially since they don't allow outsiders. Id imagine they an have inbreeding problem which is kind of [censored] up for the Enclave

Far too high, they were around a 1000 on the Oil Rig I re-call; their several hundred people max now (and really even that would be considered laughable pre-Fallout 3, it's clear from Fallout 2 that the Enclave weren't supposed to come back).

As for in-breeding, I poitn (as always) to the case of Vault City with it's population of 103 which survives by state controlled re-productive cycle; yeah it's not pretty but, in Fallout, there is therefore a precedent for a small population to maintain sufficient genetic diversity.

Why haven't the Enclave developed cloning technology, if they could design a virus that would wipe out the population on earth I doubt cloning would be a problem.

Uh, it's not maintaining genetic diversity. It's simply there to avoid in-breeding, which is bound to happen after a few generations. Vault City has a very limited gene pool regardless and there are only so many combinations the Auto-Doc can do before you start feeling the pool get smaller and smaller.

VC bypasses that by taking genetic material donations from outsiders made Citizens. Make of it what you will.

It works okay for VC with thier 103 people, I'm sure that the Enclave with at-least 10x that number could manage themselves.

VC didn't exist long enough for the Auto-Doc to run out of combinations, though.

Niether did the Enclave... and yet VC lasted a good few years since the war with what they had in a dwindling population.

Well from my point of view, BoS is annoying insulting me every chance they get.
The outcasts in fallout 3 insults me every chance they get.
NCR in new vegas is not treating me like crap, might not be the best one.
Ceasars legions well they are just organized slavers and raiders. Not my choice to go.
Enclave might be viewed as evil but heck, if it gives me new quests, perks access to new items and a different experience why not?
FO3 already allows you to side with raiders, slavers... How is that worse then the enclave?

I like some aspects of the Enclave, but they are too incompetent. Despite all their knowledge, technology and bravado they always get their asses handed to them, by lesser inexperienced factions. They lost to the NCR, Lyon's Pride (A faction that uses pre-war tech, btw) and The Chosen One (A [censored] tribal.) I'm sure if they were in full force in New Vegas, they would've lost to Caesar's Legion. (A faction that runs around in football gear.)

What I do like is their science and technology. Their discipline and military training.

In closing Mr. House all the way.

Ha Ha... nope. Is this some sort of joke? Anyone who says yes has me worried, and make me want to keep a whole bunch of Dakka.

It depends. Would I be an actual member of the Enclave (which would mean I would have to be born into it), or would I be a contractor? I'd like to be a contractor, as I'm sure I'd get paid VERY well, but I don't know if I could live with Sargent Dornan for 16 years...

I was thinking if Bethesda ever decided to bring back the Enclave in the future. It should be a completely new Enclave, an enclave that wants to bring back all that was once good in America. An America with freedom of speech, an America where every man, ghoul and mutant would be treated equally. (Anyone remember how imposing Frank Horrigan was? Imagine thousands of them in enclave gear.) An America that is against slavery. This new Enclave could start to recruit from the local populace, much like the MWBOS. Offer protection in exchange for their most exceptional members of the tribes. This new Enclave would try to redeem itself and atone for the sins of the past.

I mean what's the point of restoring America or the world if you're going to repeat the same mistakes.

Also I'd imagine their would be conflict between the Enclave and NCR. NCR can just rule the western U.S and the Enclave could rule the eastern half. After all DC is in the east and yes I know the Enclave originated in the west. But that's NCR territory, this new Enclave wouldn't have the numbers to go up against the NCR. Not at present anyway.

So in closing they're should be an Enclave and Followers of the Apocalypse type of hybrid faction.
