I remember watching a US civil defence film on one of the nuclear tests...they tested foodstuffs by leaving them in the blast, then eating them at a barbecue the next day.
Obviously the information from the two WW2 nukes was still secret.
Sad thing is, the government was willing to lie to the troops and endanger them all in the name of war. Makes Vault-Tec look like business as usual with the experiments they did.
Na soldier don't have to worry about radiation, there will probably bea killed in the line off battle long before the radiation cause any effect.
