Looking for Dragon Breech TC

Post » Mon Apr 05, 2010 10:47 pm

280mb, hmm. Well, only one way to find out if it's worth it...
Screens? :3

I might have DB on some hard-drive somewhere... (looks into it).

Screens here:
http://www.dannythorpe.com/proudfoot/db/screenshots.shtml

Honestly does not live up to the feeling of playing it. It's a joy playing through the initial quest =)

It looks like a completely different game! :shocking: I'm downloading this now :D Is it recommend to play through with a new-game? Or will I get decimated viciously?

I think these screenshots are not from the alpha but from a more recent, never released version of the tc though :( I dont remember this city in the desert for instance. Maybe RWTS has this version herself, I dont know.

To be honest, I don't really mind the loss of the city :P I just want to explore those lovely beaches. It's still a shame though.

Thanks for the answer, that sounds really cool. So if I get it right, you're going to finish landscaping the mod and you are going to remove all the original quests from the esm? And then you'll be adding your own storyilne? What I mean is, since you say it's ok for mods to be added, it would be much better to make mods for your own version of the TC, wouldnt it? As much as I like the alpha, it is, after all, an alpha. So my question is, are you going to release a "final" version of the esm which we will be able to create mods for? That would really, really rock! I would love to see a wip thread about this revival of DB, I'd really like to know more about it :)

Krovosos: DB is a TC created by Lady Eternity and Proudfoot. I don't really remember the storyline, but since it's not finished and it's going to be replaced by RWTS' quests (if I get it right), it's not really important. What you really need to know, though, is that these two modders, being talented modelers, created a bunch of meshes and textures specifically for this tc, which makes it really unique looking; as I said, the pirate island is just amazing. DB is one of the mods that really made me want to mod for morrowind.

Actually there was an earlier alpha released, a Morrowind mod rather than a TC. That is the one I will be using. :)

The landmass does conflict with some other great mods, and part of the map cuts off, as is common for land a certain distance out. Was there ever anything released that fixes that, so one can get the map to show for land that is far out from the main game area?

As for DB, it is a very long and complex TC. You just can't reach the main quest conclusion, as that was going to be finished in their next release of it I think. Sadly, the whole "modders are hackers" thing happened with Oblivion and the two got so frustrated and upset about it that they decided to retire from TES modding. Even banned the conversion of their work into Oblivion. They had some friends that worked at gamesas, and I think they heard some things that we did not hear. It was insinuated in some of their posts that they had. Anyway, that was the end of their work with Dragon's Breech.

Good side is, pretty much everything in it are modder resources, even the scripting. Amazing scripting in that TC! And it is OK to mod it, as in add new areas and such. They did give that OK. My impression from reading their responses to questions about it was that if the original storyline, quests, town and such wasn't messed with, it was fine to add to the world. For example, there are some areas that are just waiting for work, like the Ice Castle area, the desert, and there are those giants in the mountains. :)

So we have to leave the quests already made as they are, but we can create our own quests, our own storyline? For instance, if I wanted to add a quest or a shop to the main city, could I do that? And would it be possible to create a quest that takes on where the story was left, without modifying what's already in but trying to bring some sort of conclusion, or is that not allowed?

I thought you were working on the TC, sorry about the confusion. Personally I'd love to see DB released as a more or less finished TC.

RTS , is the version that isn't a TC still available anywhere ? Or will that be irrelevant when you release your quested version ....I probably just answered my own question ! BTW , some hours later and DB is STILL DLing ! Serves me right for being such a tight wad and not getting a faster internet connection !

Yes, I think that that all should be fine. And there is the huge island with the gate. Honestly, I don't think there was much more to finish with the quest. The interior with the big bad disgusting boss dude is there, the one with all the blood in the hallways. While I think they originally gave the OK to one modder who never did do it, if the connections were finally made between the parts that are already in the game, just not accessable without ports, they would not be likely to mind.

-------------------------------------------------------

CrazyGreggy - The mod version was very alpha. It has a lot of what is in the TC, but is more incomplete of course. I don't think that LadyE would want that re-released in that form. Much better to play the TC anyway. :)

Sadly, the whole "modders are hackers" thing happened with Oblivion

Forgive me for opening up old wounds, but I'd like to know more about this incident. I'm a relative newb here myself. Again, sorry if this bothers anyone.

That's fantastic! It would be terrific to see DB released with a finished questline^^ It would be great to have a small team, or even a few modders finish the tc, and I could lend a hand this summer if they wanted help with meshes, textures or even landscaping. I dont get involved in big projects like that usually, but I think DB really deserves it. As I said, it really inspired me to start modding morrowind ^_^

I could start helping in mid-june, but I'm wondering if there are other people who would be interested in working on this? I cant and wont work on this alone, but if there are a few interested modders it could be possible (especially since so much work has been done already). RWTS, sure you dont want to work on the tc itself? And finally, do you think there would be a way to obtain a more recent build of the TC? I think LadyE and Proudfoot worked on this for a year or so after the release of the last alpha, it would be sad not to have this work included in a final release!

I have another TC to work on, Brash's Morrowind 4 Kids. :) I still have all their files as well as a lot of great resources of my own. It was a lot of the thoughts of the Fantasy, Kids's Morrowind and MW4K that kept me wanting to get going on modding again.

And there were no other releases of DB that I know of. They did release all of their model work that they had done though. Many great new creatures and I believe some new tile sets as well.

Oh, I see. Hope you succeed in finishing Morrowind4kids, I never tried it but the screenshots were very beautiful. Good luck with that!

And thanks for all the information. I will have a look at the DB alpha in the CS in June, to see what needs to be done. I will then make a realistic assessment on what I can do to help it move towards the release stage, and will ask for help for what I cant do (dialogue, scripts...). I'm not a very productive modder, but every bit I can contribute will help I guess, especially if the bulk of the work is already done.

That is, unless someone starts working on it before June. People shouldnt wait for me if they want to work on it themselves :D

While it's true they did not have anything more recent released I would not be surprised if they had some progress at least some time after the alpha was released. I think that is what Mandamus was trying to say.

I was looking at MW4K just the other day, your nickname made me remember a lot of things, thinking it was such a shame it never got done either.

It would be very interesting if say a team based effort was made to update older mods, working through them as we see fit. I was trying to do basically the same thing with Veldion (I never got passed updating graphics and I worked pretty slowly on simply Denduron). I wouldn't expect any similar team based effort to happen but I would support it and try to help for sure =)

Yeah, that's exactly what I meant. Somehow I doubt that data is available though :/

By updating do you mean updating the meshes and textures of older mods? That could be a lot of fun! Do you have specific mods in mind, apart from Veldion?
(hmm, this may be slightly off-topic, sorry about that :()

Lot more than that. I quit Oblivion modding entirely because of things that happened at the forums, and pulled back heavily from Morrowind modding as well. :(
I'd be better be careful, my stiches are coming loose, don't want those wounds opening again...

Sorry if I overlooked this but, I'm curious about the problem with MMH, has everyone that tried to download and got the error, signed in when they tried? If so, I'll ask fliggerty about that. I've said it before, and I mean it, I'm glad you're back RWTS. I even remember you from the Fable forums. Someone mentioned a team of modders to update old mods, well, I have L_A_P's permission to update Infernal Summoning. I started a thread on Fliggerty's GHF sometime last year and was swamped with RL, but am back to resume work on it if anyone wants in on that project. As far as Dragon Breech, I loved it back in the day and am sorry to hear the Lady E and Proudfoot were involved in that. I disappeared around that time.

Yeah, I did a lot of modding for Fate, still have some projects going for that wonderful game as well. :)

Here are the links again for what I uploaded:

http://rapidshare.com/files/379419332/DragonsBreechAlpha2V1.3NoTextures.7z
http://rapidshare.com/files/379411602/DBTextures.7z

Huge file so I had to break it up into 2 parts, easy to put back together again. :)
