Missing blood effects with Transparency Multisampling on

Post » Tue Apr 06, 2010 12:03 am

So I just discovered that if I turn off Transparency Multisampling I get more blood effects. Now enemies actually bleed when their heads explode. With Transparency Multisampling it looked diffferent.

And I like it, so I want to keep the effect. But I also like the Transparency Multisampling...

I've heard that it may be an issue with ATI graphics cards. I have an ATI HD4850 graphics card. Is there a fix for this that doesn't require TM to be off?

Another issue I have is white flickering when layers of blood on an enemy overlap (especially noticable after using the Ripper on someone) but that happens regardless of which settings I use. I've heard other people mention it too. I have no idea if this is an ATI specific issue. Last time I heard there was no solution for this other than using a low decal limit but if there is one now I'd like to hear it! :)

Bumping old thread because I notice the same thing and scoured the interwebs and there doesn't appear to be any fix. It's not just ATI, happens with nvidia too. Forcing transpareny AA in the driver control panel (and turning it off in the fallout 3 launcher settings) is an alternative, but the grass looks better using the in-game version
