Skyrim doesn't start

Post » Sun May 05, 2013 11:39 pm

Hiho,

just experiencing a new prob with Skyrim for nearly a week. Whenever I try to play, the launcher opens, I click Play, the gamesas logo appears, then the black screen with the Imperial Signum - and that's it. No text, no pointer, just the black background and the Imperial sign and nothing more happens. Although the task manager tells me Skyrim's using 99 to 100% of my cpu... strange.

Defragmented my drive, ran scandisk, let Steam check the local files, even got me a new TESV.exe by Steam etc., but still doesn't run. The strange thing is that nothing changed at my pc, no new hard- or software, no new drivers etc., Skyrim just doesn't run anymore for nearly two weeks now.

HELP!!!!!!! :(

Thanks & regards,

Zeph

Any mods that you installed recently?

Try a repair install. Look in event viewer for errors. Update video drivers and reboot.

Missing masters are readily apparent (orange checkbox(s)) if using WryeSmash. Odds are, something you installed requires an absentee master, thus you're getting that particular CTD.

First of all, thanks for all replies! :D

A few minutes ago I found out what caused the misfunction - after I disabled the Unofficial Skyrim Patch (I just wanted to completely re-install the game and thought I give checking the few mods I run a chance), the game ran as usual. Strange.

Best wishes,

Zeph

Really? Make sure you use something like BOSS so that the USKP is not in a bad place in the load order. USKP works fine for me, and disabling it on a current save is not a good idea
