Unofficial "Will My PC Run Skyrim" Thread #62 w hard

Post » Sun May 05, 2013 6:49 pm

Everything should work well together, but if you can wait until June you should get a Haswell CPU. Also...

What? The only processors that don't have integrated graphics are server CPU's, which use specific motherboards. Pick any Ivy Bridge or Sandy Bridge CPU you want, but I'd recommend getting one with hyper-threading. Your build won't let you go all-out-to-the-max with modding, but you will definitely have a better experience than you can achieve on an Xbox.

Well I went by what I read within the descriptions. If it wasn't listed as having video then I figured it didn't have it. No biggie. I like the processor anyway. I'm lucky to be able to pick stuff that works together. Lol

What the heck is a has well CPU?

Just to let you know where I'm coming from.... Dual pentium CPUs, 8 meg of ram, edit of sys ini, edit of sys reg, bios edits, couple other things I can't remember and win95 loaded up so fast we thought it was broke.
Lmao
That was the last time I have had anything to do with computer tech. 1994 or 1995 ? Lol!

Lol haswell is the codename for the next gen of intel cpu architecture. The current gen is named ivy bridge, the previous sandy bridge and the previous to that, clarkdale.

Haswell is predicted to be about 10-15% faster than ivy so if you have a ivy cpu the upgrade wont be worth it unless you have a older cpu like sandy of previous gen to that.

Note haswell will use a different no of pins so the current lga 1155 boards wont work with haswell chips. You'll need a new lga 1150 board.

Edit, btw that build looks pretty good and you should have a very enjoyable experience gaming on it.

Thanks. Will do. Hope I won't have to return any bad parts. I think I have a 50/50 on the drive. Good drive bad reviews.
Totally off topic...
(I really love this site. Such a long time lurker. Lots of good people. Bethesda games are such a love hate relationship. Brother inlaw just picked up skyrim and he can't put it down. You have to play skyrim, bugs or no bugs. Ole lady trying to kill alduin as I type. Lol)
(She whipped his butt with me screaming in the background. She also just yelled at me. One of the controller buttons seems to be sticking. Lmao love this game!!!!)

I would easily say high-ultra with atleast 40-50fps (although most probably around the 50fps mark) most places outside and about 50-60fps most places inside.

El liberator, i would say low to medium with good fps but not much more maybe get away with high on a low res but that system is fairly low end and isnt designed for gaming. Increasing ram to 4 or 8gb would help. But the cpu is pretty old now and the 640 isnt a gaming card.

Could someone help me out here? Not too computer savvy, but here goes:

Dell System Inspiron N411Z, Windows 7 64-bit

Processor: Intel® Core™ i3-2350M CPU @ 2.30 GHz (4 CPUs), ~2.3GHz

Memory: 4,906MB RAM

Video Card: Intel® HD Graphics Family

Laptop. I'd like to run on at least mid/high settings. I went onto Can You Run It, and it says that I need a new video card. Is there anything else I need to know, or post here that would help?

Sorry but you've got no chance, the intel hd graphics is a integrated card in the cpu which is no way designed for gaming. I would save up for a new laptop or desktop with a dedicated gaming card or play skyrim on console.

Lol that's what I was afraid of. Where could I go to look for some more gamer-friendly laptops?

A laptop is a disposable device that even if it started out game-capable, is too expensie for games because the graphics it has are permanently installed, so every couple of years, it's got to be replaced. From this game's origin, none of Intel's smoke and mirrors trickery was going to work, and a laptop like yours was already hopeless.

Hmm. So I'd need a desktop then? That's troubling news Seems I'm forever doomed to the tiring, oh-so-vanilla console version. Unless I could find a desktop that won't tear my bank account to shreds, of course.

Personally, I build the PCs I use, and for 25 years or so, a large part of those used by family and friends (since laptops aren't designed the same way other consumer electronics has been, and same as all the rest, my family is equally enamored of the smaller size PCs, I haven't been doing it much lately). I can build a desktop a lot more economically than I can buy a laptop.

As gorath said, you'll be much better off buying/building a desktop if your serious about pc gaming. A lot of sites can build them for you but its generally a good experience building one yourself so you can easily upgrade, troubleshoot parts a lot easier in the future.
