Your Favorite TES EVER!

Post » Mon May 06, 2013 6:27 pm

Basically, your favorite and why. And I'm not counting TES-O since it isn't out yet.

As for me. I may've started with Morrowind but after playing almost all of them (Didn't play any Travels, Redguard, or Battlespire)... I say Skyrim is my favorite.

Why? Well. After tallying up all the pros and cons of each TES game, Skyrim has the most pros and least cons for me... I know the other TES games had done better than Skyrim in some aspects but overall, Skyrim wins for me.

Now. What about you?

Dang...hard choice :(

You should make the poll multiple choice  But if I had to choose...

...

Oblivion. I mean, I had the most memories from it being my first TES

Skyrim was my first game from Bethesda and it has left an amazing impression on me.

So, I pick Skyrim. Maybe in the future I'll pick up Oblivion.

That one game is my favorite. Because I liked it's features more than the other ones.

I've played Daggerfall through Skyrim, at least of the core series, and it's a tough choice between Morrowind and Skyrim. I really prefer Skyrim's class system, and there are many other aspects of gameplay that have benefited from several iterations of refinement . . . but the setting and factions in Morrowind are far more to my liking.

My favorite is Skyrim. But Oblivion is not far behind in my affection. And Morrowind is not too far behind Oblivion. I like them all. My least-liked Elder Scrolls game is far more entertaining and enjoyable to me than my very favorite game from another company.

Skyrim has a slight edge for me because I like its atmosphere. I like the landscape, NPCs, stories, quests (I know this runs counter to conventional wisdom), music, sound effects, combat mechanics...the whole package.

When I evaluate a work of art or entertainment I do not do it with a clipboard and checklist in hand. I do not say "This was taken out," or "This was added," ...and so therefore it stinks because something was removed that I liked or something added I did not like. I evaluate the work as a whole, the entirety of a work, not its parts. And the entirety of Skyrim speaks to me slightly more than the previous two games.

I really try not to chose and just like them all equally. But if I must pick one, Oblivion. I enjoyed it more than any of them. It had the best quest out of any TES IMO and it takes place in Cyrodiil. A poorly designed appearance of it, but none the less did I still enjoy the game as a whole.

Morrowind, because it was my first TES game, the Dunmer are my favorite race, the setting is fantastic, i loved the lore of the game and the dunmer in general as well as their political system and house telvanni.

I agree on the poor appearance but still get enjoyment from Oblivion. I used to care about the whole deal about Cyrodiil not being a jungle but I just do not care anymore. Oblivion gave me hours of entertainment, no matter what was right or wrong! :)

Skyrim. It's the only TES game I've had the chance to play enough to form an opinion on, and it changed my view on gaming pretty drastically as well.

Morrowind, because of the entire design philosophy. It's apparent right from the introduction. You get one journal notice sending you to Caius Cosades in Balmora and that's it. No compass pointing out all of the nearby locations, no markers showing me enemies and quest marks, and complete freedom to do whatever I want with spells. No essential NPCs. A large amount of unique, static loot. Named bandits. A world that actually feels like a fantasy world with an interesting art direction. A proper villain (or 3, depending how you look at it). I could go on and on about things I find preferable. Was it clunky, and did it suffer from some bad mechanics? Yes. But there was still a vision that sets it apart from the rest. And before the accusations of nostalgia come flying in, Morrowind was my 4th TES game.

In terms of my enjoyment: Morrowind > Redguard > Oblivion > Skyrim > Daggerfall > Battlespire.

Skyrim for me. I love almost everything, from the overall atmosphere to the little details Skyrim has such an abundance of.
That said, I've played Morrowind and Oblivion as well, and love them almost as much.

Oblivion for me, but only marginally. I like all of them for different reasons.
