What areas (if any) can I put items on display, without bugs

Post » Tue May 07, 2013 11:08 am

Okay so Im trying to add a homely feel to my house, "Lakeview Manor" I have all the areas, and furniture. But for example when I put things in open top end containers or lay objects on top of things, (that aren't display cases, mannequins , weapon racks) and leave the area, or reload the save they all end up on the floor or all over the place. So I guess my question is are there any places in the lake view manor that arent bugged like that? It seems the cellar is all bugged like this.

So incase your unsure what I am talking about, which is possible I svck at explaining stuff, ill give you an example. In the cellar of your house where the forge is underneath the safes are some boxes with ores in it. I placed some ingots in them and when I left the room they were back on the floor. So any suggestions? Besides obviously putting them in something instead of technically on something.

Drop the item on the floor first. Then save, leave the cell, come back. Then you can pick them up and drag them to the shelf and they should stick, as long as you have not moved a stock item out of the way (it will respawn). Oh, and don't put the item back in your inventory, just use the Z key and drag it. (if that is the drag key, it's been so long that I have put anything away in this game I forget)

And those display cases with the lids? Just don't use them.

Good tips ill try those out, I am on the PS3 versions, this being the PS3 section haha...

Good tips none the less. You think I can put items on top of ones that might spawn? Like in case of the ores, put other ores next to them? I spent like an hour placing stuff last night trying to get it done before dawnguard comes out and I was like" NNNNNNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOO"

You can use the display cases, that is what they are there for, displaying items. Just open the lid and put your previously dropped items in there, might take a while to get them arranged how you want them, but practice makes it easier. Always save before putting a weapon in a display case, in case on your return it has vanished or fallen through, they will do that with any display case though, so nothing special about the DLC ones. Be careful about putting items on the bases of mannequins and on trophy stands, they can sometimes behave strangely, either that or it is the item not programmed to stay on the stand, it can sink through it. Save first and then try it, return to the house a few times to be sure it will stick.

Also so your items dont respawn that you dont want in open containers or shelves such as bowls, flowers, cups, wine, whatever...that way you can put stuff you want in them. Just move them somewhere in the same cell, like a corner.

Figured that one out the hard way after I tested waiting 30 game days, then returning home and the cellar exploded in a frenzy of Jewels and ingots....

Respawning time is 10 days, and moving an original item in the same cell is only going to have it go back to where it belongs. Better to just leave it where it is and fill it up if it is a bowl or something you can put stuff in. It is not like there are not enough bowls and things in Skyrim you can bring home to decorate with.

I had only one problem in all of Hearthfire on the Xbox. Anything I put in display case next to master bed either disappeared or was ejected. Be careful with that one, if you chose the master bedroom option.

I had one weapon fall out of the wall rack but I replaced it and that never happened again.
