Megaupload got taken down under very suspicious circumstances, anyway the music is currently being shared on a torrent, here you go...

Yeah, I intend to have a nice, long sit-down with Morrowind Advanced to address crap like that.

Do those NPCs barter with you? You'll have to remember that I've never actually played this game, so... yeah.

If so, just give me their names and what I can just do is alter their scripts to account for the merchant skill reload.

Well, that's an entirely different story altogether. Personally, I would consider that sort of thing to be an act of poor coding and think that the problem would be better resolved on the part of the conflicting mods themselves.

I have no idea. I'm not familiar with Knots's plugins (or Vurt's, for that matter).

Everything I've seen in the editor just looks like more powerful variants of existing enemies, but yeah, I think I've heard someone say that before. I'll report back once I've actually taken the time to go over everything.

Well, it's being shared *now*...

Asking me is still necessary since I don't just leave it running constantly

Thanks for your hard work mate.

Apologies, I've been seeding the file myself so I didn't see any harm in it

If someone could seed the music torrent it would be much appreciated. I liked the original Better Music but found it too much of a frame hit, eager to try this.

My PC will be seeding in a few hours when I get home but I've found that both versions are pretty hard on the CPU, Morrowind doesn't seem to handle scripts that well. If the Construction Kit didn't baffle and terrify me in equal measure I'd strip out everything but the dungeon/cave/boss/etc music and leave the rest of the world to the vanilla system but with all the regional tracks dumped into the Explore folder.

As I let the cat out of the bag I'll also leave the file seeding from my work PC tomorrow, might as well use the rustbox for something useful

My testing has shown a consistent framerate of at least 20-30 FPS wherever I go (bearing in mind that my FPS is throttled at 30), and any hits I do see are generally attributable to graphics rather than music scripts. From what I've seen, my version of Xiran's mod shouldn't affect performance at all.

It's been awhile since I actually played Morrowind and this week I deleted everything and did a new install. I'm keeping my mods as minimal as possible. On more reflection I recall that Xiran's original mod didn't affect frame rate so much as I found it buggy and inconsistent, so I really like the sound of the edits BTB has done.

I should have left the torrent running while I was at work today, I'll load it up again this evening. I'll be out of town most of the weekend, I will probably just leave it going while I'm gone.

I've noticed that if Morrowind is running at a steady 60fps (Seyda Neen) and I enable BMS (or XE's realtime shadows for that matter) my framerate will drop by around 10-15fps when lots of NPCs are in the field of view, however if I'm in an area that already runs badly (Dren Plantation...) I only lose a couple of frames, I think it's something to do with the inefficiencies (and age) of the engine but I'm not a programmer

Pretty much every slowdown I've seen on my PC is down to the CPU usage, Morrowind always maxes out one of the cores and barely touches the others, by comparison my GPU is hardly working. I know vanilla Morrowind used to run really slowly back in the day so most people are hugely glad to get 30fps with all their mods running but I'm so used to vsync that middling framerates pull me right out of the game.

My understanding of the Morrowind engine is that it's almost entirely CPU limited, it uses the GPU for very little.

Edit: And it's limited to one core, so it can actually perform worse on some modern CPUs than older, higher clocked single core CPUs. Don't take that for gospel though.

No that's exactly the way it is, I don't think much can be done about that until OpenMW takes over

*edit*

I just did a bit more testing in the Dren Plantation, I get about 30fps when facing all the NPCs, enabling all of MGE XE's more expensive features only costs 2fps, if I go to Balmora the same features almost halve my framerate from 60 to 30

Wanted to thank you for your seeding of the torrent. I discontinued the use of the BMS because I couldn't get this version of the music folder, to use along with BTB edited esp. I'm downloading it right now, getting at 10kb/s.

Is the music still being seeded? I keep finding peers but no seeds, and I'm not getting any connections either. With all of the requests lately, I mostly just want to be another seed for it.

Thanks, I'm in no hurry. As I said, it's mostly to keep a seed going since my computer is on most of the day, usually. I did manage to get 64% already from an incomplete peer though.

Soundtrack is great but 111 kbps...
BTB can you upload it in higher bitrate?

I don't have it at a higher bitrate.

I encode everything at 112 kbps because I can't tell the difference between it and 128, 192, 320, or 1140.

Hey BTB,

thanks a lot for your work and for your amazing mod list! Truly inspirational. Would it be possible to get soundtracks for your version of BMS?
