Is the Last Dragonborn truly the last?

Ive noticed most people on here seem to view the last dragonborn as the last final dragonborn that will ever appear on nirn, but I'm not fully convinced. Is he/she truly the last one? if so, then why? and how do we know this?

When the prophecy says that the 'last dragonborn' will fight alduin, I always assumed they meant last dragonborn as in the 'last known dragonborn' and not literally the last one to ever exist.

For one, Argnier (or however you spell it, the greybeard dude) says something along the lines of "you are the only dragonborn that has been revealed thus far" sort of implying that there could be more (and im not just referring to miraak here). I mean another dragonborn like yourself may exist, but isn't in a place or position to be fighting dragons to find out he or she is a dragonborn.

Esbern also says something along the lines of "prophecies aren't set in stone" (of course im paraphrasing here, but he says something of the like). So the term "last dragonborn" in the prophecy might not be as literal as most people think.

Another thing to back up the prophecy thing is the Nerevarine Prophecies. The whole legend of the Nerevarine was that he was to come to morrowind, and fight the empire driving out the Imperials from Morrowind's land. But in the end he actually strengthens the Empire's connection with Morrowind being a known Blade agent and all (until the Oblivion crisis, which most of Morrowind got mad at the imperials for leaving them to the invasion, but that had nothing to do with the Nerevarine)

So that prophecy wasn't entirely true, or was distorted over the years.

I also think that Nirn could still use the dragonborns. I mean, most of the emperors were dragonborn, and in skyrim they sort of imply that Dragonborns became emperors because of their Will to Dominate. (and not just the akatosh - alessia covanent)

The Empire as we know it might cease to exist, but I believe that there is always going to be a super power in tamriel, lead by some figurehead who may or may not be dragonborn.

The reason why the empire svcks so much now is mainly because of the emperor who isn't a dragonborn. (though as a non dragonborn, he has been pretty damn resilient)

Anyway, I don't have very much to go on or to back up my theory, but I also think that we shouldn't just assume that this dragonborn in skyrim is the literal last dragonborn to ever exist just because the word 'last' is used in the prophecy. (as I said, I always assumed that meant that the 'last known dragonborn')

I can easily see Bethesda pulling out another dragonborn emperor or something in the next game, and a bunch of people getting pissed saying "I thought we were the last dragonborn in skyrim!"

"So the first Dragonborn, meets the last Dragonborn"

Seems to imply that there are no others after LDB, just as there were none before Miraak.

Well last can also mean the latest but when they used it in the way it was in the book of the dragonborn . . . yeah not likely meaning the latest though Akatosh could just say screw it and send in another Dovahkiin just to make that prophecy wrong.

The use of Dragonborn Emperors also seems to have died out with the breaking of the Amulet of Kings/Chim-el Adabal. Martin's sacrifice/pact/whatever seems to have made the whole point moot. Speaking of which, what is his relation to the Towers, then? How do the Dragonborn Emperors (starting from Alessia, idk) differ from the Shouty kind?

And given how the world is supposed to end, the next time Alduin comes along he might just eat everything.

I think he is. however lets not forget that Akatosh could send a new dragonborn whenever he desires.
