So, I installed Fallout 3 yesterday or the day before, and since then there has been nothing but constant crashing. This crashing occurs with the same frequency regardless of if I use simply the vanilla .esm with no official DLC, only official content, or all official content and mods. Crashing usually occurs within VATS, especially the 2nd-4th rounds of VATS after loading a savegame. Crashing also occurs when switching weapons, when aiming down sights (using vanilla aim), when entering/leaving a new area.. you name it. Pretty much everything crashes my game and the average session before a crash lasts around 30 seconds to 2 minutes, with my max being somewhere around 10 minutes (being very careful to avoid VATs).
Here are my specs
GPU: EVGA GeForce GTX 660 2GB VRAM
CPU: i5 2500k @ 3.4GHz
Motherboard: Gigabyte Z68X-UD3H-B3
8GB DDR3 RAM @ 1333MHz
I honestly can't find out for the life of me what's causing this. All of my drivers are up to date. I've researched my issue dramatically and tried a few workaround fixes, such as limiting the CPUs Fallout 3 can use in my .ini to 2, adding the extra line to my .ini, using the d3d9.dll (doesn't really seem to change anything at all), etc. I really would just like a solution to this. Also, I am running the unofficial Fallout 3 patch.
If anyone can offer assistance that would be great. I just want to play this game without it crashing constantly.
