Windows 7 Crashes when trying to exit game

Post » Thu May 09, 2013 4:04 pm

Anyone have any idea how to fix this?

Every time I exit Crysis 3, the game hangs up at the desktop. I have tried to use task manager to close, but it just hangs up and I eventually have to restart my computer.

Is this a bug? Should I just simply uninstall and reinstall the game?

Thanks in advance for any help and/or suggestions.

Do you get a blue screen, or does the desktop just freeze? Have you checked win7 internal diagnostics to see what the problem is (advanced)?

I would recommend:

1.) Doing a clean install on your graphics drivers.
2.) clicking the check/repair install button in origin.
3.) Monitoring internal temps for cpu and graphics.

Crysis 3 will tell you if its a memory issue (though its not clear if its vram or system ram, derp).
If its causing a blue screen it could be hardware/drivers especially with crossfire/sli. Most of the lock ups are related to memory/graphics issues/heat issues. In the past the game would bork up during install and patching, so its worth checking for updates and checking the install through origin. Uninstall/reinstall may not be the first solution to try, though it has worked for some people especially months ago.

4.*) Make sure you are running a legit version of the game

Crysis 3 doesn't want to be exited, so when you exit it takes Windows down with it.
