more immersive water....

Post » Thu Apr 08, 2010 12:32 pm

In oblivion I will always walk around a body of water when walking to my destination, even if it means an extra half days journey.

Would I ever jump into a lake in full clothes? let alone full suit of armour, valuable scrolls and heavy weapons? No. So my character doesnt either.

If I do, I imagine I am soaking wet, I spend time drying my clothes by a campfire, or leaving them in the sun for a while.

So in Skyrim I hope to see some penalties for jumping in water ie...

dripping and soaking appearance ala assassins creed 2.

heavy armour makes you swim slower or sink depending on strength.

leather/fur makes flies bug around you.

In cold temperatures, wet clothes will damage endurance... on a snowy peak in wet clothes will quickly cause hypothermia.

and ice cold water should not be safe for long at all. In bloodmoon I could swim all around the icy waters which just killed immersion for me.

You can post your idea http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1152946-official-ideas-and-suggestions-topic-3/page__st__140

All in all, I'd rather take a more immersive underwater experience rather than how my characters armor reacts to water, as you'll really only see this while playing in 3rd person.

But adding a sinking algorithm based on what armor you are wearing and your strength is a good way to keep players out of areas until they are a high enough level to explore. :)
