"Extreme" Character Builds

Post » Fri May 10, 2013 5:52 am

I am looking for posters to share some interesting "Extreme" character builds which could change the way you play the game. "Extreme" is probably going to mean different things to different players, so please refrain from bashing someone's shared build. Currently I am playing 2 Extreme builds as listed below but am looking for new things to try.

Ranger/Hunter Build

  • HUD turned off (mainly for the lack of a compass)
  • never fast travel
  • never travel into walled settlements
  • never go indoors (caves are ok)
  • zero magic
  • only craft from ore I have mined
  • carry portable campsite (from a mod) where I sleep/cook every night
  • harvest everything from slain animals
  • only attack NPC's who are hostile

Pure Thief Pacifist Build

  • zero magic
  • do not kill anything
  • steal anything that I use/need (weapons, clothing, food, etc)
  • never purchase anything
  • active only in cities/settlements/or dungeons where humanoid NPC's are present)
  • never save/reload because I got caught pickpocketing (deal with the consequences!)

Please feel free to share a new build or offer CONSTRUCTIVE criticism on these 2 builds.

How about a jewelry maker? Only defending yourself with a dagger and follower/s while you mine the ore's needed to craft the jewelry.

Just an idea. You could change the build to suit your preferences, i've been thinking about making an Argonian jewelry maker for a while now. :D It's a lucrative profession.

If a PC user does a special build like a merchant or a hunter, it's best if he fires up all the difficulty-enhancing mods he can find to make his hunting/trading activities worthwhile.

THE MAN CHALLENGE

Pick the most manliest race (Nord Obviously)

Wear NOTHING .. thats right... you are to wear or use nothing except your white loincloth and fists.

Play on Legendary.

The challenge is once you escape from Helgen keep.. to punch every jarl once in the face without dying and make it back to Riverwood.

Don't go beyond Steel weapons and armor (heavy, leather light). They may be crafted stronger, but no enchantments. Ever.

Limit the number of arrows you can carry.

Limit the weight you can carry.

Travel only in daylight, unless a quest specifically requires a night visit.

No potions or poisons unless you make them.

You may ride a horse, but only if going solo. If you've a follower, horse riding must be at a slow pace -or- foot travel only.

Darken the game. If you're not a Khajiit, torches are required (either you or your follower has to hold one).

No "running" all the time. You may dash for a few moments, but walking a normal pace is mandatory (not even I can keep to this one).

Those are just a few of the rules I play with, at times.

NO. PERKS.

LOL i might actually try that one. Though I do have Better Males installed, so my character would be running around with a stiffy.

I love the limit arrows idea and will use that one. I have too many awesome weapon/armor mods isntalled to not use anything above Steel though. Project Reality mixed with Enchanced Lighting and FX makes for some VERY dark nights/interiors too. ;)

Mine is similar to your hunter. Don't really know if it qualifies as extreme:

Female Wood Elf Archer wearing nothing but plain black robes to compliment her stealthy tactics.

Use only raw ingredients for healing and curing.

Loot (arrows), forage (ingredients), hunt (pelts and ivory), and make (bow) what I need - no purchasing or selling. Collected enough pelts to make a thousand leathers, which I turned into bracers to level smithing.

No magic. No enchanting. No potions. No enchanted items. No armor. No weapons other than bow. No walled cities.

Angi had an accident, now it's Michi's camp.

Mostly don't fast travel - lugging 128 leathers from camp, smithing, returning to camp for 128 more, repeat, I fast travelled. :-)

Michi has a very dark side willing to kill anything in her way, carrying a quiver, or sporting large ivory tusks.

Michi's camp will one day be strewn from one end to the other with Mammoth tusks for return to Valenwood.
