I am going to switching to PC gaming from Console gaming. Does Skyrim run ok with Windows 8.
With Windows 7/8, it is best to create a directory called C:\Games and install Steam, Origin if you have it, and all your games in there. While not all games need this, enough do that it is just a good habit. Plus, if Steam is in there, then you can get the old games from them and not have to worry about setting up a second library for the older games.
For the record, Skyrim should work in the stock location in Windows 7.
