Want to share a great, gaming moment.
Playing on Xbox, so no mods. Got a level 59 sword/spell with difficulty on master. Preferred style of fighting is to conjure then cast destruction magic. Invested extensively in one-handed and light armor so melee is great, right?
Finally kicked off the MQ and rapidly reached the initial fight with Alduin. Got my ... butt ... handed to me. I kid you not, totally depressing. Researched this - Alduin has something like 3000 health and my thunderbolts are doing 45 points of damage while wall of storms does something like 25 points per second. In other words, he barely feels it. At least Paarthanax and the dremora lord are helping, but not really. After 45 minutes of intense dragon-rend shouts, potion swilling, dying and never getting his health down by more than 10%, I gave up.
Reverted to an earlier save, determined to wash the taste of frustration out of my mouth. I'm over near Karthspire when I stumble onto a Volkihar vampire and his thrall. Good stuff, gonna enjoy this.
Conjure a storm atronach who promptly (and correctly) goes after the vampire. I use slow time and crit the thrall almost instantly. There's enough time left on the shout to close on the vampire. I get in one or two hits, take him down to almost dead when slow time ends. He, smartly, bolts calling for mercy or something. I'm sprinting and closing the gape when he goes invisible! Noooooo! He can't escape, I must have victory. Right then, a bolt of lightning flashes from behind me and hits the invisible vampire, killing him and sending him tumbling. That was the best storm atronach ever.
Just... awesome. I love this game.
