Still having issues with textures on 360

Post » Sun May 12, 2013 4:34 pm

I recall when Skyrim first came out, installing your game to your HDD made the textures mess up a lot (snow, especially). Even after all the updates these years and uninstalling/reinstalling and so on, I still have this problem. Does anyone know how to go about fixing it?

I'm confused... and believe me, it doesn't take much.

However, the game does in fact grant faster load times and a noticeably better overall performance by playing directly from the disk as opposed to actually installing the game. Now, while you state the understanding of that, you still note that you may be installing the game anyway.

Now, I'm not clear on the exact "texture" issue you are referring to. Do you mean stutter and lag when being in snowy or rainy areas?

If you are talking about the textures themselves as in they don't render properly or not at all, then that is an engine issue with the LOD or "Z" fighting and I'm afraid it is what it is.

Many textures just look pixelly and like they were created for the PS1. I remember it was a pretty infamous issue when the game was first released, and I thought it was supposed to have been fixed with the very first update, but yet I STILL have never been cured of the problem. Surely there's somehting I'm missing here.

The best advice i can give for this is manually delete the update, clear sytem cache, try again. This happened to me with dragons and castles a lot when i was playing on 360....

Do you have the 4GB slim Xbox 360 model? If you have a 4GB slim model, the textures are going to do that (with the game installed), because there is insufficient memory on your hard disk drive to cache data for Skyrim. You may need to buy an external hard drive. If you have some other model (besides the 4GB slim), make sure you have around 10GB of free space on your HDD.
