Alertness perk

How worth it is http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Alertness?

It would mean that I could rearrange my SPECIAL a little, giving me that extra point for anything I want.

I use a stealth-sniper build, so I would often be immobile and crouched anyways, but what I'm worried about is does this make that much of a difference when it is active.

Too many more important perks around the levels 8 to 16 range, that I would never take this perk. Plus you can just get ED-E as a companion, if you want to see the red ticks appear from further away.

A level 8 and up, you have perks like Grunt, Cowboy, Finese, Silent Running, Sniper, Pack Rat, Toughness is at 6, and thats just a few good ones off the top of my head. With only a perk every two levels, theres just no way you can waste one on Alertness.

Also, if you are doing a sniper build, you are going to be looking out your scope anyways, you wouldn't use the radar/compass as much, especially when you are aiming down the scope.

I took it and I can say I really can't see any difference, which is a shame because it seems like a pretty nifty thing. It won't *destroy* your character if you take one bad perk, and hey, maybe you can find a strategy that benefits from it.

There are other ways to increase your perception in the game without using this Perk.

Worthless. Would be interesting if it had the benefit of also seeing an enemy weakness when they cannot detect you (+15% Critical damage or -5 DT).
