[REQ] Updated and clean 'More war in the wild' mod

Post » Wed May 15, 2013 6:15 am

Hi,I'm generally new to the modding community (former console peasant) and do not posses the technical skill to program and whatnot.A mod has really caught my attention but unfortunately it contains dirty edits and after prolonged use it will make the game unplayable. Unfortunately the mod author Toby Johnson abandoned the mod in September last year. The mod can be found here skyrim.nexusmods[dot]com/mods/20691/I feel this mod is seriously under appreciated. The ability to have roaming armies of 20-50 (up 120) Stormcloaks/Imperials waging massive open battles, raiding forts and defending forts, patrolling roads, entering dungeons and attacking cities make the Civil War vibe of Skyrim much more enhanced. I loved following the armies around the world of Skyrim as they always seemed to go to interesting places and do interesting things. I have tried Warzones and I find the static battles mediocre and unsatisfying, I have tried Immersive Patrols and found the static battles even more bland and the encounters somewhat lacking and ultimately mediocre. The civil war aspect is one of the sadly unfinished and unrefined areas of Skyrim and needs definite improvement. I would love if someone updated the mod or used it in an existing mod and perhaps improved it as I lack the necessary skill to polish this diamond in the rough of Skyrim modding.Regards,Ymir

Unfortunately doing so and uploading it would not be allowed as the author has left no directions for modification should he leave.

i gave it a look with TES5Edit, and the esp looksquite ok. a few remaining ITMs, but nothing that should cause much trouble, if you place the file high in your load order, just below the unofficial patches.

if the mod is otherwise finctional without issues, i see no reason to abandon it. what i gathered from comments is that the NPCs may not despawn or clean up propperly, or may never stop to spawn new ones, so should the old ones not be killed, this would bloat your save and slow down everything. didn't try the mod myself, but if you experienced this, dirty edits are the least problem of this mod.

and i don't know of a mod that does something similar. immersive patrols comes closest in my oppinion, but you gave that one a try already
