No. Just start a new character.

You will ruin your saved game, it will become corrupted and unplayable, your only option is to make a new character.

That's not guaranteed. It can work just fine. It may not be the cleanest way to do it, but saying it wont work outright is misleading.

OP, back up your saves and give it a try. That is the only way to know for sure what will happen for you, as everyone's results may be different.

From what I've heard is that trying to play without DG installed after it was installed then reinstalling it can corrupt the save into not working,

WTH, Echonite? Saying it's okay to remove a module as big as Dawnguard.esm? Why not tell him to crank uGrids up to 25 while you're at it?

No, Inferno221. Do not remove modules and play a gamesave in progress unless there are specific instructions for uninstalling. And seeing that there are none for official DLCs... don't.

It's a very large module, and odds are, considering how much of the vanilla worldspace it alters, you will probably encounter gamesave breakage long after it's too late to revert. Just start anew.

(Note: Do not touch uGrids either, leave it at 5).
