What will become of dragons on down the line?

Post » Fri May 17, 2013 1:04 am

in future games in the series i mean

since it seems alduin did a super thorough job at resurrecting a buttload of dragons (i get that they are unending for gameplay purposes, but i suppose the 'lore' version of the amount he awoke is also very high) how do you think they will be used in later games?

do you think they will be simply gone again? like they were re-exterminated by hunters between skyrim and the next installment, or have returned to whatever realm Akatosh resides in?

or will their be some hidden out in dragon lairs that theyve reestablished in the hidden corners of the world?

or maybe a few even become more 'friendly' in order to keep the mortal races from hunting them down, learning from past mistakes and whatnot? (i think itd be cool to see a few instances of a town under a dragons protection in return for livestock and a roost or stuff along that line)

this is just random speculation obviously

what would you want to see done with dragons, lore and gameplay wise, in future games?

they will obviously still exist in the world, although we will not see them other then maybe a boss fight.

I don't think enough time will pass for them to be completely exterminated again. There was only 6 years between the Events of Morrowind and Oblivion.. the only reason we saw such a gap between Oblivion and Skyrim is, with the way Oblivion ended, there was not much more they could have done with that timeframe.
I believe the Next Elder Scrolls will be a smaller jump like Morrowind to Oblivion. if I were to take a guess I would say 10-30 year gap between Skyrim and TESVI..

Unless TESVI is set in Akavir, in which case Bethesda, I'll mail you my credit card!

They will interbreed with humans which will cause a population boom of Argonians.

The Dragonborn(or at least mine) will convince them to relocate to the Aldmeri Dominion and cause havoc there or face extinction.

They will probably live a peaceful existence atop mountains.

It's impossible for the Dragonborn to kill all of them, even if he wanted to.

Some may have fled Skyrim, for example. It's happened before.
No idea what they'll do,though. Become a bunch of Paarthurnaxes?

The Last Dragonborn absorbs all of them and becomes more Akatosh than Akatosh.

Just kidding. It'd be sweet for the LDB to have some effect on the future of dragons though, like certain dragons become assets in Skyrim's armies under the command of the Dragonborn or something.

I bet they will exist. They have gone to other areas before. We may see a couple in the next one.

I hope so. It would be a shame for such a cool enemy to disappear. However, With Alduin dead, their numbers can only diminish from here on out.

There is such thing as mating, and also some high ranking dragons (that were resurrected by alduin) had been taught to resurrect fallen dragons

half right i guess

i guess some dragons may know alduins ressurection shout (you may know more, i dont recall hearing any dragons learned it)

but breeding is out

dragons dont breed since theyre lesser aedric creatures, just like dremora or golden saints dont breed or any other lesser daedra

the only way the static number of dragons can go up and there actually be new dragons is if akatosh makes more somehow

i think beth said that the dragonlings in much earlier games arent representative of what their current lore/nature on dragons is

so no baby dragons to keep up the population

I think that the next game will be set on the Summerset Isles. The Thalmor plot is leading to something.

Dragonlings are completely unrelated to Dragons, that's why.

I imagine some will survive. Whether or not a dragon will show up in future TES titles, I can't say. But it's not out of the question for a rare boss encounter. There was one in Daggerfall, for example.
