Question for publisher

Post » Fri Apr 09, 2010 5:19 pm

I just want to ask, console players got beta to test as first. Where are PC players? Is it because console players are main target for publishers?

I think the console users got to beta test it first because it might be easier to beta test. This way they can focus on the online code of the game instead of people not getting it to work because they have too weak hardware or whatever, as the hardware on the consoles are the same.

Or it could be that it's much easier for them to beta test the PC version themselves internally, so they have no need for asking other people for help.

If you're being optimistic, you could argue that the PS3 version is probably the worst and requires most intensive beta-testing; unlike the PC and Xbox versions which are fine.

If you're being pessimistic, you could argue that SD simply like the PS3 most and wanted to make some PS3-users really happy and involved into the development of BRINK.

Yea, from what I've heard so far, they're only testing the PS3 version because it still has some issues.
They also invite European players only, because they are located in the UK and they can sew people if they break the beta test agreement (They are not allowed to leak ANY information)

Please don't ask for a beta on all platforms, if there comes one, it will be for testing and reporting issues, not to play the game before it's released.

SD is a PC company, using an engine that they are familiar with. Having a beta on PS3 (which sounds more like a focus test) is likely do to the fact that this is the company's first attempt at console games, and they want to make sure everything is dead on. They know PC like the back f their hand, which is likely why their is/will be no beta for PC.

This is my thinking as well.

I think its important to realize that a true Beta is not done to give a preview for the game. The big hint about this is how exclusive it is, and the fact that all testers have to agree to an NDA. A beta test is simply done to test things. Its not a preference thing, they aren't trying to make console gamers happy, they are just trying to iron out kinks in the game.

svcks for most game releases the ps3 release is the worst, since the ps3 has the best support for keyboar and mouse, and modding features only second to the computer, unlike the 360.
