SKYWIND (Morrowind Recreation project) Updates

Post » Sun May 19, 2013 12:00 pm

Hey there Bethesda forums,

Thought it might be a good idea to post this sort of information everywhere on the internet that I can.

If you haven't heard, the Skywind project is a massive modification to The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, a complete recreation of The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind in the Skyrim engine.

There is work being done on this mod literally every hour of every day. The forums are constantly updated with new information, new screenshots, new ideas.

And we are just a group of modders who have come together to make this happen, the forums are very relaxed.

We need help with literally everything, there isn't a job that has been completely done, and you don't need to be a modding genius to help. all you need is the Creation kit and whatever time you can spare.

Since Bethesda wouldn't let us simply port all of the objects and textures directly from Morrowind to Skyrim. We are making it from scratch, EVERYTHING, from scratch.

We have our own voice actors, our own modelers and texturers (Of which I am one) our own landscapers, etc. It is a complete recreation of Morrowind, with every quest, every item, every location, and fully voiced dialog for every line in the game.

We need help, and there are several threads on the forums with step by step instructions on how you can help even with no prior experience with ANYTHING I have been talking about.

All you need is a computer and an internet connection, and judging by the fact that you are reading this, I'm going to assume you are fully capable of helping the Skywind project.

Google: Skywind Forums

The development section is where 90% of your time will be spent. I suggest making an account, bookmarking the development section, and checking it every few hours, new screenies and info are posted pretty much every few hours.

And here is how to find my personal twitter and the YouTube accounts of some of the people in the development team (including myself)

(Tried posting links to the forums and to these sites, apparently not allowed...)

My Twitter, where I post screenshots of my work before I even post them on the forums, so if you want to see stuff right when it happens, follow me. Google: Sheep Dog Woof twitter

My YouTube channel, I post videos of the creatures I am working on, currently there are four episodes to catch up on, featuring creatures like the Dreugh, Kagouti, Clannfear, etc. Google: YouTube Sheepdogwoof

Stijmunkey's YouTube, he makes trailers, and if you want to see some recent gameplay footage, there are 26 minutes worth of it in a video he released recently. Google: YouTube Stijmunkey

Subscribe and follow for weekly if not daily Skywind updates.

If you don't want to help, go ahead and explain why.

If it has to do with time constraints, we really don't mind if you don't have much time. You do whatever work you want, whatever time you want, at whatever pace you want.

Though as I explained, Bethesda would not allow the porting of Morrowind assets into Skyrim. THAT is where the legal issues arose. Seeing as that is no longer the case and we have been given the green light. I see no reason whatsoever why this would not be allowed.

If a moderator or Bethesda/Zenimax employee reads this and deems that it cannot be on the forums, then they will remove it and that will be that. But I have been searching and searching for any evidence that I am not allowed to discuss it and have found none, so until then. I will not change this post.

Well then you have not checked in a very, very, VERY long time.

Everything is being made from scratch. We even set up a program in our installer to make sure people own Morrowind so that Bethesda lose no revenue from people who would have only bought Skyrim to play Skywind on.

It is required to play, though only because we want to please Bethesda, if THAT is why you think that things are still being ported then you should have checked a little harder

Next time you tell someone they aren't allow to do something it would be best if you actually read up on it to see if we were actually violating anything

I last checked in March.

From what I gathered, content and assets were both being ported. The amount of discussion, though, had decreased from Fall.

If things WERE still being ported do you think we would have continued development at all? They planned to shut down the project unless we made everything from scratch, which we have been doing for months now.

I seriously don't know where you have been looking, go and check the forums, what you will see is armour, clothing, weapons and flowers being remodeled from scratch, a whole thread filled with amateur voice actors to replace all of the dialog, all of the creatures being remodeled, all of the rocks, trees, clutter, candles, etc. When Skywind is complete it will essentially be a COMPLETE recreation of Morrowind in every single respect. We have to rewrite the quests, do all the pathing, everything.

And yet you have not explained where ANY of your evidence actually is.

"From what I gathered, things were being ported"

Well they aren't, and haven't been for a very, very long time

"Well I think that they are"

Well, you are wrong..

And besides that, Morroblivion has been finished for months now aswell. and no big arguments about that, it is completely playable and available for download. Yet no Bethesda/Zenimax employee has come and smacked the hammer down on it.

and its rather hard to believe that they simply don't know it exists.
