I hear (read) often of followers or NPCs picking up stuff you drop and returning it to you.

I've tried this countless times to remove the stolen tag/marker but this event has never happend for me. Is this a very rare occurence/script?

I have had regular npc's pick things up and return them to me but I don't know about followers.

I think the only way to remove the stolen tag marker is by selling to a fence then buying it back from them.

This doesn't always work, some items remain stolen. Not sure why or if its just bugged.

I hear the npc can clear stolen markers but can't get this to activate

ps. where do you drop your stolen items so that npc's pick it up?
