As nature lovers, would wood elves be supportive of werewolves and would one ever voluntarily become one?
As nature lovers, would wood elves be supportive of werewolves and would one ever voluntarily become one?
Can said wood elf think for themselves or do they let others do their thinking for them? If it's the first then It's entirely possible they may decide that the benefits of being a werewolf are worth becoming one.
What I mean is there any overall Bosmer view on werewolves? Like, if they love nature so much, would they not enjoy being a werewolf? It is basically becoming an animal, after all. Or, do they see it as unnatural and thus bad?
The Bosmer certainly have a hunter culture, and from that alone, I'd say that at least some would be willing to become werewolves. We can see that kind of culture mirrored in Aela, for instance.
In addition, though it's not often mentioned in texts or in-game, many Bosmer are almost beasts all of the time, as seen in http://ladynerevar.tumblr.com/post/48393969254/cannibal-sarracenian-jesuslizardjournal.
Further, there is the Wild Hunt aspect of Bosmeri culture. Though they do not engage in the Wild Hunt often, groups of Bosmer can physically turn into a horde of ravenous beasts when absolutely necessary, crushing and devouring all that stand in their path.
So yes, I believe that a given Bosmer would be more than willing to become a werewolf or other werecreature, and be friendly to a werecreature if it is non-threatening.
Considering that the Green Pact only prevents them from harming plant and the nature of the Wild Hunt....
No, I don't think the Bosmer would have immense religious opposition to the idea.
I know they wouldn't have opposition, but what I'm wondering is if they'd actually like the idea. They are very animal-like at times.
Like, if a wood elf was very in-tune with his culture and nature loving, do you think he would become a werewolf to get closer with nature as such?
Probably not for that reason. Bosmer are not tree-hugging environmentalists - they're hunters with a religion that forbids killing or using plants
I know they're not, but they'd oppose to the destruction of forests and are still very in-touch with nature and stuff. As hunters, they'd still surely support being a werewolf? They are, regardless of how the actual game depicts them, really strong hunters. Right?
I suspect the Bosmer might claim that werewolves are leftovers from a Wild Hunt.
I'm not aware of any specific reason why they would wholesale support lycanthropy - if they did, they'd all be werewolves. On the same hand, I'm unaware of any major restrictions. I'm afraid I have no other insight to offer
In other words, it's a personal preference?
well they have "The Wild Hunt" do they not? where they do the ritual and are turned into beasts?
Unlike Lycanthropy, there's no coming back from it, so its really a act of desperation on the participants part.
