Mod sources, just got PC version

Post » Thu May 23, 2013 10:53 am

After playing on the PS3 since 11-11-11, I finally got the PC version of Skyrim. Steam has a ton of mods but I heard about Nexus as well. In general, do most people here find the mods on Nexus safe to use and can anyone recommend other safe sites to use. I am aware safe is relative and that I use mods at my own risk. Thank you in advance for any advise.

Much of the Oblivion list holds for Skyrim, as well.

Nexus is perfectly safe. Why wouldn't it be?

For now I've only downloaded from Nexus and nowhere else. I personally refuse to use Steam Workshop for many reasons which include limitations and forced updates.

As for mods to use, start with:

Unofficial Patches

SkyUI

Categorized Favorites

A Quality World Map

For installing mods Nexus Mod Manager is beginner friendly. For more advanced management Wrye Bash is recommended.

Also, if you want to go deeper, try Better Vampires, assuming you plan to play as one, of course.

Oh yeah, no matter what you do, go get SKSE ASAP!

Skyrim Nexus is the "main" source of all Skyrim mods. Most of them get uploaded there.

I tend to hunt vampires mainly as a hatred of a certain book/movie franchise :)

Heard of SKSE and that a lot of mods need it Thank you

Vamps in Skyrim are not related to Twilight. Go watch Hellsing Ultimate.

I mostly join the vampires in Dawnguard because:

-I feel humans/elves/beasts are the real monsters;

-the Dawnguard is just bland;

-the kind of characters I play mostly befit the bonuses offered by vampirism.
