If your pc hardware can handle it, then yes they are fully compatible.
Now the choice is.....Realistic Colors and REal nights....orrrrrrrrr Climates of Tamriel, can I get some opinions????? Im going for the most skyrim lore friendly look here.
If you only use Climates without the extra plugins (don't select anything except 'default' and only enable the Climates .esm file in your load order), then it should be okay with RCRN. Climates is mostly a weather mod and doesn't directly affect lighting.
Personally I pair it with Realistic Lighting Overhaul because RLO is made compatible to it and my PC can't handle post-processing that RCRN does.
Did the RCRN FAQ page say anything about Climates?
Oh im not talking about using both, i wanna use one or the other, I am already running Enhanced lighting and FX by Anamorfus and he reccomends using either COT or RCRN, and I was wondering which one people have had better experiences with.
CoT has new weathers and different weather effects - for example, a red dawn on a foggy day, a thunderstorm suddenly rolling in etc. It works with vanilla lighting, and works with either just itself, or pairing it with Realistic Lighting Overhaul (the mod authors worked together for compatibility).
RCRN uses post-processing - it uses an external injector on top of Skyrim's regular rendering in order to get its effects. So it has a higher hardware requirement then CoT or other lighting mods (besides ENB but that's entirely different).
I haven't used RCRN in a long while, so I'm not sure what has changed. I think it might have new weathers etc. but I remember it mostly as a lighting mod as well as it needing that post-processing.
So I guess it depends on your hardware, and what you personally like. I think you get more out of pairing CoT + RLO then RCRN for less stress on your machine, but it's up to you.
Im pretty sure my hardware can handle it
I7-3820 3.6 GHZ
NVIDIA GTX 690
32 GB RAM
500 GB SSD + 1 TB 7200 RPM HDD
Guess what ill do is give each one a shot one at a time, test for a few hours and see whats best for me.
If anyone has any opinion ons the matter though, let me know, im open for suggestions.
I currently run CoT and Enhanced Light and FX and have to say I really like the setup.
I used to use RCRN but turned away from it for no specific reason, both are great mods though.
