Video Tutorials on Audio - feedback welcome!

Post » Fri May 24, 2013 4:21 am

Hi, I haven't been here in a while as I've been off doing my audio engineering degree, but as a part of that I've done a quick study on implementing audio in Skyrim and as part of that I've started making a series of video tutorials designed to help people get their own soundtracks and audio working.

Maybe you guys are seasoned veterans at this by now but if any of you have time it would be great if you could have a watch and give me some feedback. Hopefully they'll actually be of some help to some people. So far I've covered the basics of custom soundtracks, dialogue, acoustic spaces and magic effects. I'll probably go ahead and make some more for weapon effects, shouts etc if people are happy with these ones. I'll also be looking to help out with mods in future if anyone needs a fully-qualified audio engineer for their mod, I've got a pretty well-equipped home studio so if you have a mod which needs a bit more shine or customisation in the audio department, let me know! -

Very timely.

I will look at these soon, as I am starting my recording / dialog work for my mod.

Cool! I'm going to specifically research dialogue a lot deeper since I need to get things like the greetings working, and my current understanding of quests is somewhat rudimentary, but essentially those show how to tack voice acting and lipsync animations onto any piece of dialogue in the game.
The only thing I'd absolutely recommend if you're doing your own voice acting is a good mic and a professional audio interface. They make all the difference.
