What about pub games?

Post » Sat Apr 10, 2010 11:08 am

What would be some ideas for pub games? I didn't particularly enjoy FNVs Caravan (poorly implemented IMHO), but would you like to see a card game? Dice game? Archery competition? As a chance to win gold, wager gold, win items, wager items?

Say an archery competition in each city or diversified competitions (hammer, sword, dagger) IE competitors with unique weapons or items you can win from them in wager.

Just small games or competitions to occupy our time between questing and exploring.

What ideas do you have?

Sounds like a nice idea but I'd wager we're going to get another Arena type area for that kind of stuff, as for the minigames I agree about Caravan, tried it once, hated it, in fact I barely played any of the gambling minigames :(

I loved the pub games in Fable: TLC. They added so much to the believability of the world. I want to see arm wrestling that relies on strength and endurance, coin shoving that relies on agility and luck, that game where you have to follow the cup that has something under it when it's mixed around with other cups (I dno lol), some card games that are rooted in TES and aren't just imported from our world that rely on luck a little and darts that rely on marksman and agility.

And more! Sandbox stuff! Yay!

I know haha, I started with pub games, and it turned into behind the pub archery challenges (i post from my phone, my typing is consistently behind my stream of consciousness ha). Nevertheless, I think a nice unique card or dice game where you could win some collectables would be cool.

Physical challenges (Id call them "feats of strength" - Seinfeld reference :-) ) may be a bit much as far as a time consuming activity is concerned.

Good call on the arena, that basically is a physical challenge "mini game" as I was originally clamoring for.

I'd like to get into barfights where you can pummel people without killing them or getting in trouble. It would start as just a fistfight and if either person's health dropped below 10% they would get knocked unconscious and the fight would end. If you pulled out a weapon or used a spell it would become an assault charge.

How 'bout drinking competitions? Not sure how it would be done. Timing game, maybe?

Maybe some Guitar Hero like music games.

You have to get it just right to fool everyone into thinking that you drank when you actually poured it on the floor. When they're all passed out you can rob them blind

Or with a higher endurance you could actually outdrink everyone I guess

Just throwing ideas out there.

Drinking and fighting in The Witcher was to me, an accurate representation of what it would have been. Falling all over from the strong mead and etc. Haha.

But, I was wondering about games. Drinking would be fun but I was thinking a sustainable pub game (or games) you'd still find entertainment in after 100 hours.

Bad example, I know, but all modern Final Fantasy games generally had some form of card game, for better or for worse i agree, but it passed down time and maybe made you think about playing the game when you didn't feel like questing.

I would prefer drinking competitions and story telling in the taverns :)
A combination of both mead and stories can be cool... hehe
Lots of crazy secrets can slip out there ;)

Something like dominoes, but instead of spots, it would have symbols?
