Skills you've never "perked".

Post » Sun May 26, 2013 11:10 am

Most all of the Mage skills save for Restoration and Destruction. Then again, I never use the Two-Handed perk, Pickpocket, Heavy Armor or Blocking skills. I am strictly a Light Armor, Dual-Wield, One-Handed Marksman.

Speech and lockpick, Thats it. I don't use perks if the character doesn't need them and don't add skills just to lvl up more. My Hunter/explorer had about 10 perks not used when I stopped playing her.

Alteration and...... ok, Just alteration. I use the others and many of the perks fit into my character conceps or RP- except alteration as I have little use for it.

This. never have I needed to put perks into these trees. Especially Lockpicking. Speechcraft is actually pretty useful with some of its perks when it comes to being mercantile.

Pickpocket

Lockpicking

Speech

I know speech can be useful. But I've honestly never felt like I needed it. Lockpicking is a joke. Pickpocket can make you money easily, but money is already easy to make.

One day, maybe.

True, Speech is definitely not a must have skill, and the player can always develop a good amount of gold or bypass dialogue without it, but it does make things easier and makes dealing with merchants less annoying. I always struggle when selling expensive items when the merchants don't even have the money to buy it.

I have never perked...

Lockpicking

Speech

Restoration

Light Armor

While I have perked Heavy Armor on one or two characters in 2011, I haven't invested in it since.

This is all with the vanilla game. SkyRe has the potential to change that.

Here's the list of skills (for those, like me, that can't easily recall them all)"

Archery

Block

Heavy Armor

One-handed

Smithing

Two-handed

Alteration

Conjuration

Destruction

Enchanting

Illusion

Restoration

Alchemy

Light Armor

Lockpicking

Pickpocket

Sneak

Speech

For me, I never (after maybe trying it once and realizing it was useless) perk: Block, Two-handed, Illusion, Lockpicking, Pickpocket, Sneak, Speech

Alchemy

Lockpicking

Pickpocket

Speech

Two-Handed

With some immersion-improving mods I've been tempted to perk Lockpicking and Pickpocket, but I've always decided I prefer the added challenge that perks would diminish.

Never EVER or did once and realized you didn't like it?

Perked ONCE and realized I didn't like it / end up using that playstyle - Alchemy, Speech

Never EVER - Lockpicking

I like the Pickpocketing tree for Extra Pockets, and the one rank of +20% and then +25% for sleeping people to get there isn't bad for making things a little easier, so I don't think it's as useless as other people say.

If I were you, I'd give Illusion another shot. It is arguably the most powerful school of magic. Coupled with Conjuration and it's arguably OP'd.

As for 2h? Well, you need it obviously if you are using 2h as your primary. And Block is quite amazing in itself. Not just for a shield carrier, but it complements a 2H playstyle as well. I would revisit all three of those. You might find a new love.
