Removing a mod....

Post » Mon May 27, 2013 9:25 am

I have had so many people blame my mods for causing problems after they have been removed.

Doors not returning to their original positions, rental beds not returning to their original positions etc... Clearly the issue is unclean save game, but what can be done? I am really fed up of this issue...in the most recent case all I did was move the Breezehome front door a few feet. Now the user has uninstalled my mod and the front door has not returned to it's orignal position...no front door.

What can be done....will leaving the city for a set period of time enable it all to reset properly? Does the user have to scrap that save game?

There is no longer such thing as a clean save anymore.

Data from loaded mods gets baked into the save itself. This includes remnants of scripts, as well as doors and I presume navmesh changes. The save file is not yet decoded, so we don't presently know how deep the rabbit hole goes.

Bethesdas stance on the matter is "uninstalling of DLC/mods is unsupported". The only way to have a truly clean save is by reverting to a previous save that has never seen the mod before
