Plans from the past
Chapter one - Foundations
The year is 2077, minutes before the start of The Great War. “Project Safehouse” by Vault-Tec is for the most part finished. The land is dotted with underground nuclear shelters.
Vaults made to protect the population from nuclear fire. That is however what the population believes. A group called the Enclave designed in secret, social experiments for the vaults.
Not all vaults fell under this experiment though, some remained control vaults, while others had other purposes. One of those vaults is Vault 102.
A group of influential Europeans, who fled to the United States of America during the Resource Wars managed to buy a vault for themselves, Vault 102.
One of the few vaults, destined not to be controlled by an outside power. The foundation for their plan was laid and the rest of their plan started to unfold.
In addition to the normal Vault lay-out, they build an extra chamber connected to the living quarters of the vault. The room was cut-off from the vault by a large titanium blast door.
On the door there was a symbol engraved, a silver ring with a sword in the middle. Above the door was a big counter counting down, currently viewing “210 years 00 days”.
This chamber was filled with several “wintersleep” pods. An invention by one the scientists of the group. The lounge would freeze in his or her inhabitant to
resurrect the person later in time, much like how a winter sleep works. When everything was in place the group placed themselves in their pods, froze themselves in
and locked the door behind them. With the start of The Great War people started to flood into the vault, not knowing what was behind the locked door.
A lot of people often stopped before the door wondering what was behind it and what it would reveal after the counter reached zero.
Wondering was all they could do though, since their offspring would be the only ones to find out.
