Recovering mod information through a save game?

Post » Tue May 28, 2013 1:59 pm

Hi!

I recently had to wipe my hard drive and i have all of my save games backed up but not my mods. The problem is, i don't remember all of the mods i had, just that i liked them. Since Skyrim shows a pop-up window every time i load my save telling me that i don't have the same mods anymore, is there any way to find out which mods i had before through the save game file?

No. You could browse nexus to see if you recognise any of them. But other than that, no.

If you use the Nexus Mod Manager you can see your last month of downloads in the history section on the Nexus site. If you are a premium member you can recover your entire history.

I feel for you. Awhile ago I accidentally wiped the partition where I was storing my files while I was trying to set up a triple-boot system and I lost everything. No Skyrim mods, since I don't have it yet, but I had tons of mods for Oblivion and Fallout 3. Not to mention a bunch of other files that I had managed to collect over the years. It took me a long time to get everything back, and it wasn't easy remembering what I had. You might want to consider setting up a separate partition for your OS only. That way if something happens you'll still have all your other data.

I open my Saves Tab in Wrye Bash and see which Mods were used for My Saves, but this requires installing Wrye Bash. I also have a copy of every Mod I have ever downloaded since 2009 for Oblivion, Morrowind, Skyrim, Fallout, and New Vegas. I would also invest in a remote Hard Drive for keeping a copy of all of Your Saves and a copy of all of Your moddable Games for reinstall when something bad does happen.

Another tip....on the nexus site you can track mods as well that are in your tracking center as well. I track every mod that I really like so that if I have to do a clean install I can get my old mods back easier.

I just saved the mod zip file/exe into a folder so when the time comes to needing a mod or all the mods, it is all in one spot already without having to download them again! :D

(Useful if you do not have access to the internet when playing your offline game).
