Help with Custom Mounts

Post » Tue May 28, 2013 11:38 pm

I have been following http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eZ9ZUN4BFvg which details copying the saddle bone from a horse NIF to another creature for creation of custom mounts, and haven't had much trouble until I tried to make a simple deer mount.

For some reason the player goes through the mount animation and ends up slightly offset, but instead of snapping to the saddle node just stays there. I can move and the deer goes running off, but the player stays sitting their in mid air.

Any ideas?

I was able to get it to work by changing the Morph Race and Armor Race on my custom deer race to none and giving them a custom skin (Armor and ArmorAddon).

The problem I am having now is that this custom race, when mounted, seems to completely ignore the movement settings I give it. I created a custom Movement Type and assigned it to the race, and have tried changing the Rotation in place and Rotation while moving variables from anything between 90 and 800 and it makes no difference. The stupid deer still turns too slow to be playable for riding.

I have indeed assigned this custom movement type to the race in question under the Move Data tab for both Walk and Run.

Why even have these options if the only way to change the way races turn is through animations?
