"Cheaters are blantantly obvious"..?

Post » Tue May 28, 2013 4:00 pm

I read that statement in a post a while back, and a few friends and I were just talking about cheating in a different game and I believe the following holds true in C3..

The only obvious cheaters are the ones who don't care if they get caught.

In most games, subtle hacks like: Wall hack, no recoil, infinite ammo, no reload, no spread (i'm sure there are more) will go unnoticed if the player does not want to be overly obvious.

I would like to believe that Crytek has some anti-hack system, but after seeing (and filming) multiple guys jumping a mile high, and running .5 million miles an hour they are obviously not preventing cheating 'in game'.

Long story short, if I have to record guys cheating how do I record wall hacks or infinite ammo??

Come on Crytek lets make C3 clean, don't bow to the insecure. You guys make a great game, let's keep it that way!

My definition of Anti-Cheat is a mechanism whereby the cheat is prevented from being executed much like DEP on Windows. What Crytek do is essentially ban anyone who has already used a hack tool and has already caused damage. It is WE that are the anti-cheat, as we must physically provide proof ourselves that a given user was/is cheating.

Couldn't agree with you more here.. the simple fix for one thing is to show the players HUD in the kill cam.. this will show if they are using infinite ammo. Normally when you reload you get a small +1 above your ammo count, but when using an infinite ammo hack, it will show as +99 or more. Then bam.. screen shot, pic of player and hack in one simple fast upload which everyone can do. I have already put this forward to felblade and ch4ance a while ago but with no response, other than I am not allowed to talk about trainers.

Basically from what I can work out is that part of the in game anti-cheat is a script that detects changes in alterations to the standard scripts for different things. For example, if you have a trainer that changes things like recoil, ammo, spread etc, the in game anticheat detects it immediately and shuts down the game. So crytek need to be given some credit here for this part of it.

But on the otherside I am finding myself seeing more and more online based aimbot, name tag/ESP hacks and seeing them on a daily basis. And the fact is in order to keep up I am not having to seek an SHDSL line (symmetrical dsl) just do I can upload videos faster, and to me this seems a little unfair if players have to go to this extent just because a multi million dollar company like crytek cant get it right in the first place.

It should be setup so that when a player using a hack connects to multiplayer, and is then scanned automatically for alterations to in game scripts. Not having it set up like it is now where they can check players by region, only after someone reports them. I and everyone else I expect want to stop the hacker getting into MP games in the first place.

When I play I play for hours.I record most of the matches in case somebody pops in hiding behind scar/laser/hip fire. The problem is that if I play 6 hours then there is about 6 hour of fotage to watch back to anolize and mark the time of occurances.I dont really have the time for this and would be nice if cheaters wouldnt make it to the servers at all.

Just playing earlier where I noticed several members of a clan not reloading after kills in the kill cam.

95+ percent of players immediately reload after kills. Especially the scar/scarab/fy w/ rapid fire.

I know this is not proof therefore I didn't send in video. But it is something to keep your eye on.

People are generally over-paranoid and full of prejustice towards players who fair well in game. Having high k/d is almost a fail-proof method to get voted. Personally, I encountered 5 cheaters max from day 1. I can suggest only following - report and kick obvious cheaters. As for other cases, when you have strong inner conviction that someone is a cheater, but can not pin down the exact cheat or catch him at all - don't bother. Consider him in-game challenge, like a miniboss, who is hard to deal with. Polish your skills against this challenge, evasion skills, awareness skills and off course aiming.

Discussing this issues generally tend to create mass paranoia that damages a lot of good decent players. New players start assuming that anyone with k/d 2 is cheating in some way. But as I said, i personally saw 5.

I'm pretty sure only one person in crytek is in charge for overseeing cheaters in crysis 3. The cheat "protection" doesn't automatically kick/ban cheaters but rather sends a log to that one person and then decides whether to ban him.

There is a program that is used in pro tourneys that runs on your pc that shuts down all unauthorized programs from running in the background. It starts the game and shuts down the game if you turn it off. It has features like block alt-tab and disable non-assigned keys. Should be part of every mp.

Good point.. don't think everyone is a cheater.

However not discussing something that is an issue is the worst thing that can happen. You've seen five, that means they exist. How many have cheated and you have not seen?? If you can't answer that question than this is an issue that needs to be addressed and discussed.

And how does it damage good players? I've be VK 3 times but a 100 VK have been started against me if not more. And why does it matter if someone thinks you're cheating? You either are or your not. The only time you should care is if you are.
