Rediscovering Oblivion

After one year and a half of playing Skyrim, I decided to go back to Oblivion. I admit that, despite purchasing that game at launch and playing it for six months straight, at the time I didn't appreciate it a lot.

After learning that no more DLCs would be developed for Skyrim, since I was still craving to play some more TES goodness, I decided to take my Oblivion disk out of storage and give it another go.

I decided to play it with no gameplay alteration MODs, the way the developers meant it to be played. I only installed a few cosmetic mods, mostly adding better textures and improved visuals (and creplacing the ugly faces!).

To my surprise, I'm currently enjoying Oblivion more than I did 7 years ago. You could say I re-discovered Oblivion.

This game was ruined by a single important aspect, the level/item scaling, but everything else feels very satisfying, even more than Skyrim and, sometimes, Morrowind. I guess, at the time, my expectations were simply too high, so I was more concentrated on seeing the flaws than enjoying the game for its strengths.
