Why not try to improve Pegas Horse Ranch?

Post » Sat Apr 10, 2010 4:04 pm

It's quite old and seems abandoned. Very rheumatic movements and a lot of bugs.

We need a decent horse riding in Morrowind. The making of new mods is cool, but it would be better improve the older ones, i think.

The Oblivion horses system svcks. The best of the best is the implemented by Mount & Blade, amazing, wow.

There is an improved riding mod. It's http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=Mods.Detail&id=6112.

I think most people have just decided horses really don't fit in Morrowind. That's why I uninstalled it ages ago (that and the fact that the mini-game to get an even somewhat decent horse was pretty annoying). Riding guars on the other hand makes perfect sense in the context.

Think of it this way, yes there are lots of horses in the middle east, but camels are better suited to crossing the deserts. Morrowind doesn't seem like the kind of place a horse would do well in. Not with all the ash storms.

They fit better than Moogles, yet people still love Mog*Mod. It's not that much of a stretch to think the Imperials imported a few horses from Cyrodiil.

OMG, how did I ever miss any mod by Abot let alone a Rideable Guars Mod? I was curious about the subject of updated horse mods just the other day, but settled for my dragon mount.

Just looked at the abot guar mod. ya don't think we could convince him to update it using the vissed raptor type creature. the resource is already half set up with meshes and all. it would just need finishing work. that would be real cool. and look lore correct. the original resource was guar variants by ludicus.

To be perfectly honest, I think chocobos would fit in better than horses, and that's a stretch.

Also, the Mog Mod is...just another thing entirely. It's uh...something. I'm not even going to go there.

That would be because it is.

Making of new mods fosters modders desire to create something new - which tends to be big with creative people. Working on older mods is not always feasible as permissions must be obtained that perhaps can not be.Better, more often than not, to do something new of your own then revamps someone else's older works.

 Not a big fan of riding in any game to date. I mostly walk or run. In Morrowind all my characters can levitate and in Oblivion - fast travel.

Wow, this guars mod rocks. The only problem i can see is that the guars are too ugly.

Abot has to make a version with more beautiful riding creatures, like chocobos or unicorns.

I had considered making an addon for Pegas Horse Ranch myself, at one point.
Rather than overhaul the riding scripts, (which I didn't know how to do, as I'm not familiar with their functions...)
I wanted to expand the availability of the horses.

I would make it so that at least a few horses could be purchased from stables in each major city.
I would also rebalance the mod itself.
(some of the required things cost too much for beginners, but immense loads of cash can be made from selling horses.)

I'd also like to add horses as rewards for a couple of vanilla quests.
For example, for reaching a high rank in the legion, you could recieve a good warhorse for mounted combat.
I could also do this for quest mods as addons for them.

As an example, "To Serve Sithis", an excellent mod based on Oblivion's Dark Brotherhood faction, which can be found here:
http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=Mods.Detail&id=6822

I could possibly add a version of Shadowmere for a reward after one of it's quests,
perhaps using a version of AlienSlof's summonable Nightmare.
As I said, I had once considered doing this, but I put it aside to work on other projects.

I could possibly look into making something like this as an addon for Pegas Horse Ranch, eventually, if there is any interest.

Well without improvements on the riding, there's really not much point to making add-ons for Pegas Horse Ranch I'm afraid. The riding itself is terrible, and it's not even compatible with beast races.

Awww, I think guars are cute. :(

AlienSlof''s textures are a must-have for Pegas Horse Ranch, they are a major improvement.

Stuporstar is right though, the horse-riding really needs improvement... I guess I wont bother with an addon.
(I couldn't fix the riding itself, anyway...)
