which shield with Nightingale armour

Post » Thu May 30, 2013 8:53 am

My char dabbles in sword and board amongst other things. Has been wearing full Nightingale since he acquired it, however has been using his trusty glass shield of magic suppression, which is beginning to annoy me as it doesn't look right with the Nightingale. Which shield would look better and still be effective? I'm thinking an ebony shield would look right but wouldn't I lose some armour bonus because it's heavy armour and I have perks in light which include the bonus if you're in full light armour?

Also is the disarming bash perk worth getting in block? How often does it disarm an opponent?

Probably ebony or daedric looks best as it the correct color.

Nope you wouldn't lose armour bonus.

Or at least not to any major degree (especially with something as high-tier as Ebony)

The "custom fit" and "matching set" perks are only affected by your worn armour type - your overall armour rating (including ANY shield) will still get the bonus from these perks as long as you're dressed head-to-toe in light armour.

The only difference will be that if your heavy armour skill is low, the armour rating for the shield *might* be (relative to your light armour skill) lower than light armour shields.

e.g. if you have Heavy Armour skill of 15, and the Ebony shield gives you an armour rating of 20, then whilst wearing a full set of light armour, the +50% would be +30 from the shield overall.

Whereas if you have a Light Armour skill of 100, and a Hide shield gives you and armour rating of 40, then you'd have +60 armour from the shield.

I'd suggest checking what light armour shields look good, and then compare the AR with Ebony.

I doubt the difference will equal more than a few % in damage resistance.

Dawnguaurd rune Shield? It is light armour, pretty strong and the colour looks okay with Nightingale armour.

Shield with sneak suit? I do believe you're doing it wrong :teehee:

But seriously, how about Spellbreaker? Or is that heavy?

But Fallout 3's Enclave Power Armor was already dubbed the "batsuit" :hehe:

Batman does not use power armor as his main suit, he uses a friggin regular suit more like the Nightingale armor.

NIGHTINGALE IS ZE BATSUIT!

Nordic or Ebony both go well with it I think.

Lol, he's a bit of a jack of all trades, sneaks about with a bow or dagger and switches to board and sword when he has to.

Thanks for suggestions guys, think I will pick up an ebony shield if it isn't going to hugely affect my armour bonus.

So noone has much experience of the disarming bash perk?
