Things not in Skyrim that I love in Oblivion

Post » Thu May 30, 2013 3:22 am

There are so many things I miss about Oblivion in Skyrim, and it is the reason I keep coming back to Oblivion.

  • Casting Magic with a sword and shield in your hand
  • Crafting potions wherever you are
  • Inventory system with full character model preview
  • Almost limitless possibilities to build your character thanks to custom Enchants and spells
  • More story driven guilds
  • More appearance options from being able to choose both chest and legs
  • Arena
  • Picking whatever star sign you want at the beginning of the game, and them being more in-depth
  • The lush forests, with ayleid ruins

There is much more I am sure but these are the things I can think off of the top of my head, and if Skyrim had these included as well I would of most likely enjoyed it a whole lot more.

Anything you guys miss from Oblivion that I haven't mentioned that were not in Skyrim?

I like the messages that you get when you level up. Those are pretty cool.

And I totally agree with the other stuff you said. Though I played Skyrim first, so it doesn't bother me that much that it's not in Skyrim. Except for the Arena, because I know there was an Arena-type pit in Windhelm that the designers scrapped :(

I miss only two things in Skyrim: Attributes and Birthsigns.

Attributes, long quest lines (the questlines have around 30 quests each but the Skyrim ones only have like 4-8?!), my evil psychotic character Lauren (I play mostly good characters in Morrowind and Skyrim), Lucien Lachance as a companion (mod - though he can't kill a lion to save his life), the fun characters, the fun quests...etc

What I don't miss is the buggy engine. The only TES game where I have to constantly save to new slots so it doesn't corrupt my saves and I never had such problems in Morrowind or Skyrim (touch wood!).

I love those! They remind me of the little cards for each day of the year that people will put on their desks.

Anyways, Oblivion did a lot of things right that Skyrim missed out on.
