Redguard-style Trolls

I was just wondering if anyone would be game to attempt this. For those who have played Redguard, you'd know that trolls in that game would collapse once beaten, regenerate after a short period, and then spring back to life. The only way to defeat these seemingly immortal creatures would be to torch the corpse. This mechanic carried over to Oblivion in a rather uninteresting way - a slow automatic health regen and a weakness to fire.

Something like this would probably require OBSE, but I thought that I'd put the idea out there. Its wanted.

As a side note, this might be much more easily accomplished in Skyrim, which already has a 'recovery state' for most enemies, including the troll.

I actually thought of something like this, the problem is that corpses and essential actors knocked down cannot be torched by a fire spell. But maybe with an OnMagicEffectHit, or even OnMagicApply handler if it works on dead/knocked actors (doubt it) this should be possible. Or a simple OnActivate handler when looting a troll's corpse with a torch drawn.

Another problem for me: what if you soul trap the troll before death? It kills my suspension of disbelief (lol wut) if a creature I've svcked the soul out of comes back to life (not unlife) on its own. But again, there's an OnSoulTrap event too...

Finally, there's little hope for the AI realizing the dangers trolls would pose with that new ability, so maybe it should only take effect on the trolls the player, and possibly other unintelligent creatures and NPCs, kills?

Hmm. I remember that my old favorite, http://oblivion.nexusmods.com/mods/20736/?, introduced a new mechanic where you could burn bodies and containers, so whatever they did might be worth looking into. The way I remember it, a body would be activated with the torch, followed by a burning effect and the eventual removal of the body from the game world. I wonder if a resurrection function could be set to activate unless the actor's corpse is burned away and/or soul trapped.

I'm not sure how to address the A.I. problem, though.
